Convegno internazionale "Safeguarding the Human Person in an Age of Artificial Intelligence",  organizzato da Alberto De Franceschi dell'Università di Ferrara e da Frank Pasquale della Cornell University, (Ithaca/New York), in collaborazione con la European Academy of Sciences and Arts. 

Abstract

Il convegno è stato ideato per riunire i principali esponenti dell’informatica, della psicologia, della neuropsicologia e delle neuroscienze cognitive, della medicina, della filosofia e del diritto, al fine di promuovere la comprensione reciproca e preservare i valori umani nell’era dell’intelligenza artificiale. Le tre tavole rotonde e l’intervento principale verteranno su diverse dimensioni dell’uso dell’intelligenza artificiale e sul suo potenziale miglioramento.

Negli ultimi tempi, una serie di documenti - che spaziano dalle dichiarazioni di allarme dei fondatori di aziende tecnologiche e dei dipendenti delle società specializzate in IA, all’enciclica vaticana Magnifica Humanitas - hanno messo in luce i pericoli e le opportunità legati all’uso dell’IA. In occasione di questo evento, intendiamo condividere idee su ciò che è più urgentemente necessario nell’agenda legislativa, tenendo conto sia degli sviluppi tecnologici all’avanguardia sia delle verità eterne delle prospettive filosofiche. 

This public symposium is designed to bring together leading thinkers in computer science, psychology, neuropsichology and cognitive neuroscience, medicine, philosophy, and law in order to promote mutual understanding and preserve human values in the age of AI. The three panels and keynote will focus on different dimensions of the use of AI and its potential improvement.

In recent times, documents ranging from warning statements by founders of tech companies and AI company employees, to the Vatican's encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, have highlighted the dangers and opportunities of AI use. At this event, we plan to share ideas about what is most urgently needed on the regulatory agenda, bearing in mind both cutting-edge technological developments and the eternal verities of philosophical perspectives.
