1) Do I have to pay the 1st instalment if I plan to graduate during the autumn session (October/November/December) or the extraordinary session (March/April)?

If you graduate in the current degree course no later than March/April 2021 (extraordinary session 19/20) you do not have to pay any fees for the 2020/21 academic year.

If you do not graduate in the extraordinary session relating to the 19/20 academic year, and you do not pay one or more instalments regarding the 2020/21 academic year within the deadline, you shall have to pay an additional contribution amounting to 60 euros for each instalment not paid.

If you graduate in any session during the 2020/21 academic year, you must pay all instalments relating to the 2020/21 academic year. In order to reduce the cost of the 2020/21 academic year, you can apply for a fee reduction no later than 31st October 2020 even if you have not paid any instalments relating to the 2020/21 academic year.

2) If I have to sit one or more exams before the extraordinary session in the 2019/20 academic year, and I have not paid one or more instalments during the 2020/21 academic year, can I register online?

Yes, it is sufficient to be in order with the payment of fee instalments relating to the 19/20 academic year.

3) Do I have to pay the 2nd and 3rd instalments if I graduate in June or July?

Yes, for each degree session, all the instalments of the academic year of reference must be paid.

4) If I graduate in the March 2021 session, do I have to submit the ISEE certificate issued in 2020?

It is not necessary, but it is recommended. If you have not done so and you do not graduate in March 2021, you shall have to pay a much higher entry fee relating to the 2020/21 academic year.

5) How do I pay the enrolment fee?

Only via pagoPA by accessing the "payments" section of your reserved area.

6) Do I have to pay if I am eligible for the regional educational grant? If so, can I apply for a tax reduction?

Yes. You only have to pay 156 Euros, but it is better to apply for a tax reduction to avoid paying much more in case of unsuitability. Only those who are eligible for the regional educational grant, as a student enrolled one year beyond the normal duration of their course, shall have to supplement the amount paid, according to the information that these latter students shall receive.

7) I applied to ER.GO for a regional scholarship, I only paid 156 euros but now I am no longer eligible, how can I validate my enrolment?

You have to wait for notification as to when and how to do it.

8) I paid one or more instalments during the 2020/21 academic year, but I graduated in a session during the 2019/20 academic year, can I be granted a refund?

We shall refund you without having to apply, by 31 December 2021. We do not refund the stamp duty (16 Euros) and the regional tax (140 Euros). The regional tax refund must be requested from ER.GO, only after receiving the refund from Unife.

9) Can I use University services and attend lessons if I am not registered or not in good standing with the payment of taxes?

No. In order to access all Unife services including IT services, such as e-mail, you must be in good standing with the payment of the enrolment fees.

10) I have paid one or more instalments, but I want to give up my studies, or move to another university, am I entitled to a refund?

The first instalment consists of stamp duty (16 Euros), regional tax (140 Euros), and fees. The fees are refunded only in case of transfer to another University during the same academic year. In case of withdrawal from studies, there is no refund. The amount paid for stamp duty is not refunded. An application for the refund of the regional tax, if applicable, must be submitted to ER.GO

11) I paid the 1st instalment for the 2020/21 academic year, but I want to switch to another Unife course, do I have to pay the 1st instalment again?

If the change of course occurs during the same academic year, the first instalment does not have to be paid again.

12) Why does the amount of the 1st instalment not correspond to the amount specified on my ISEE certificate?

The 1st instalment is a standard amount, which can be recalculated according to the ISEE certificate or other subsidies, exemptions, concessions. We charge this before the start of the academic year. You can reduce the amount.

FAQ – Economic concessions

1) What is the role of ER-GO (the Emilia Romagna Regional Company for the Right to Advanced Studies) and that of the University within the field of the right to study?

These are two different public bodies.

ER.GO  supports studies by providing cash or service contributions. Unife deals with teaching and research, as well as with fees and relevant discounts.

2) What does ER-GO offer?

Educational grants, accommodation, catering services, services for disabled students, volunteering services, extraordinary interventions, fiduciary loans, subsidies for international mobility.

3) Can I contact Unife to find out what ER.GO offers?

No. You have to contact ER.GO directly.

4) What does Unife offer?

Tax reductions, total or partial exemptions, "150-hour" part-time paid collaboration activities, concessions for disabled students.

5) What does Unife offer for post-graduate courses (post-graduate specialisation courses, PhD courses, specialisation schools)?

Those who are enrolled in PhD or specialisation courses in medical disciplines can use the ISEE certificate to pay less.

Those who are enrolled in post-graduate specialisation courses, advanced/training courses can pay less if they have a disability of over 65%.

6) I am either enrolled or I would like to enrol on a degree course, how can I pay less (income obtained in Italy)?

You must have the ISEE certificate issued in 2020, valid for subsidised benefits for the right to university study, free from any omissions and/or non-conformities.

You have to access the "privacy consent" section of your Unife reserved area.

You need to click “YES” on both requests.

No later than 15 days from the date of issue of the ISEE certificate, it shall be present in the "Economic data" section.

Everything must be done before the 1st instalment is due.

7) I am enrolled or would like to enrol on a degree course, how can I pay less (income obtained abroad)?

You must have documents proving your income and assets issued by either the Embassy or Consulate of your country of origin.

You have to access the "privacy consent" section of your Unife reserved area.

You have to click “NO” at the second request regarding the retrieval of the ISEE certificate from the INPS (Italian Tax Authority).

Then you have to click on the “menu” icon in the top right of the screen, then on the “student area” and finally on the “economic details” icon.

You have to enter the details regarding the income/asset documents issued by the Embassy or Consulate of your country of origin.

After having confirmed all the data entered, you have to send a copy of your ID document as well as documents proving your income to the SOS service.

All this must be carried out prior to the deadline for the payment of the 1st instalment.

8) Can I pay less even without an ISEE certificate or documents proving overseas income?

Yes. Read the Unife call for applications carefully.

9) Can I apply for more than one concession?

Yes. It is important that you have the relevant requirements and comply with the deadlines.

10) Can I apply for a concession even if I have not enrolled yet?

Yes. Register yourself at the following address: http://studiare.unife.it and apply for the concession you require.

11) How long can I use either the ISEE certificate or proof of overseas income to pay lower enrolment fees for the 2020/21 academic year?

Until 31st October 2020. Or from 1st November 2020 to 15th December 2020, by paying a 400 Euro surcharge. The "150 hour" concession can only be applied for online from 18th July 2019 until 31st October 2019.

12) Until when can I apply for the 150-hour concession during the 20/21 academic year?

Until 31st October 2020.

13) Can I apply for concessions granted by both ER.GO. and Unife?

Yes, but both ER.GO. and Unife requirements and deadlines must be complied with.

14) What are documents proving overseas income?

This is a certificate issued by the Embassy or a diplomatic representation in the foreign student's country of origin, which must state, in Italian, the names of all the members of the student's family, the total amount of all their sources of income, the sum of all their movable assets, as well as the description of all their real estate expressed in square metres.

15) Do I have to submit the ISEE certificate or new overseas income documents every year?

Yes. Every year, both the procedures and deadlines must be complied with.

16) What happens if I don’t complete all the 150 hours?

You shall be paid only for the hours of work actually completed.

17) I do not have an ISEE certificate, but I have the necessary merit requirements (university credits achieved). Am I entitled to pay less?

The enrolment fees for the 20/21 academic year are automatically reduced on the basis of the number of credits accrued between 10th August 2019 and 10th August 2020. If you do not have an ISEE certificate you would pay less for the 2nd and 3rd instalments. Click here to learn more.

18) I have been notified that my ISEE certificate is incorrect. What should I do?

You must have it corrected by the person/authority that issued it. Once you receive the corrected version of the ISEE certificate, you must access your Unife reserved area. Go to the "Student Area" section and then the "Privacy Consent" section. You must remove the consent to retrieve ISEE data from the INPS (Italian Tax Authority). Then you need to log out. Log in again and give your consent to ISEE certificate retrieval from the INPS. Within 48 hours, the new ISEE certificate shall be in the "Economic data" section and the amount of the enrolment fee shall be updated.
