Prerequisites of the trainee researcher

Level of education: PhD.

Required working language: English, Italian will be considered as a plus

Further required requisites: research on themes related to cultural management, the impact of the crisis on the cultural sector, public-private partnership in the cultural sector.

 

Further useful information

For over ten years our staff has developed research projects in the fields of economics and management of museums, cultural institutions, cultural heritage as well as WHS management plans. We have published many essays and articles, organized conferences, and developed important research projects in the field of management of  cultural heritage.

Prof. Donato’s interests range widely, from accounting, planning and control systems, quality management in public sector organizations to management, finance and performance measurement systems in cultural organizations and heritage. He is the author and co-author of many articles and publications in the field of cultural management and business economics; his most recent international publication is entitled “Performance Measurement at World Heritage Sites: Per Aspera ad Astra” (International Journal Of Arts Management
Vol. 16, No. 1, pp: 20-34, 2013).

He has been teaching Economics and Management of Cultural Organizations at the University of Ferrara since 2002. Since 2004 he has been co-director, together with Dr. Anna Maria Visser, of the post-graduate course in Economics and Management of Museums and Cultural Services (MuSeC) that since 2012 has evolved in the Master in Cultural Management MuSeC. Since 2008 he has been coordinator of the International School on Culture, Innovation and Sustainable Development of the University of Ferrara. From 2009 till 2013 he was Director of the Ph.D. Program in Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Ferrara. Since 2012 he has been the Deputy Director of the Department of Economics and Management.

 

He is also Board Member of ENCATC – European Network for Cultural Management and Policy (an NGO promoted by the Council of Europe and with operation links with UNESCO and with the European Commission). In 2013 was nominated by the Minister of Education, University and Research Italian Representative in the Programme Committee of Horizon 2020 (the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation for the years 2014-2020), for the Societal Challenge "Europe in a changing world - Inclusive, Innovative and Reflective Societies".
