Training objectives

------------------------------------------------------------
Partizione Studenti: Partizione A
------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 56128 - DESIGN DELLA COMUNICAZIONE
The programme offered by Laboratorio di Design della Comunicazione (Communication Design studio), is aimed to develop students’ understanding and mastery of the principles, theories, methods and instruments required to design communication artefacts.
The course introduces students to the basics of graphic design (lettering, colour, composition), with the objective of developing strategies and solutions that give form to printed work and products.
The supporting module will be dedicated to the history of the graphic design and the book artifact, from its origins to the present.
The course aims to stimulate students to demonstrate knowledge and the ability to understand the topics covered as well as to acquire a good ability to conceptualize, graph and manipulate basic materials (such as paper and cardboard). Skills will be strengthened through scheduled verification exercises.

Partizione Studenti: Partizione B
------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 56128 - DESIGN DELLA COMUNICAZIONE
The Communication Design Workshop proposes a didactic pathway to enable students to acquire theoretical knowledge, methodologies and operational tools for the design of communication artefacts.

The course introduces students to the basic elements of graphic design, visual perception and editorial graphics (typography, composition, printing ...) aimed at the definition and prototyping of editorial and product artefacts.

The programme is outlined but, at the same time, it is open and available to accept variations and enrichments according to the in-progress acquisitions and specific opportunities that will emerge from the theoretical lessons, the collective moments of debate and the project activities.

Prerequisites

------------------------------------------------------------
Partizione Studenti: Partizione A
------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 56128 - DESIGN DELLA COMUNICAZIONE
The fundamental prerequisites of the Communication Design studio - the first project work for the newly enrolled students - are interest and commitment to the discipline.
It presupposes a good capacity for content research - on paper and digital sources - on topics of interest entrusted by the teacher to be transmitted through visual apparatuses such as texts and images. Prerequisite is the ability, if not the writing of original texts, of coherent re-elaboration of text contents starting from multiple sources as well as the ability to search, identify and select coherent iconographic apparatuses.
The course does not require specific prerequisites such as software proficiency. In the first phase of the course the exercises can be carried out manually or with mixed media (print, collage, hand representation).

Partizione Studenti: Partizione A
------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 56128 - DESIGN DELLA COMUNICAZIONE
Areas of theoretical reflection and practical exercise of the Studio are represented by themes relating to graphic design and communication. Educational objective of the course for the A.Y. 2022-23, is the design of a series of communication artifacts, providing for the realization of the different elements such as: cover and pagination, cage, characters, images, contents.
Students are encouraged to develop their creativity in relation to the intrinsic properties of individual crafts – material (products) and immaterial (contents) – and in terms of the relations that can be established between products and their public.
The student will be asked to play the role of author of the contents and graphic of the project, of the research (texts and images on the theme attributed by the teacher) and of the container (editorial artifact).

Modulo: 56128 - DESIGN DELLA COMUNICAZIONE
The educational objective of the course for A.Y. 2021-2022 is the design of a series of communication artefacts, involving the creation of various elements such as: a publication cover, a layout grid, the study and use of fonts, the selection and evaluation of images, and the drafting of content.
Students are required to develop the ability to elaborate both on the intrinsic characteristics of the individual artefacts - material (supports) and immaterial (contents) - and on the relations that can be established between products and users. Students will be called upon to play the role of author of the contents and graphic designer of the project, of the research (texts and images on the theme assigned by the lecturer) and of the container (editorial artefact).

Partizione Studenti: Partizione A
------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 56128 - DESIGN DELLA COMUNICAZIONE
The teaching activity is divided into lectures that will be accompanied by practical activities in the form of exercises and a final project.
The sequence of teaching activities is organized on the basis of the skills acquisition process.

The teaching method of the Laboratory is open, dynamic, collaborative and proposes a constant comparison between students and teachers both during the lesson hours and in the moments of review - single and collective - of the exercises and of the final project.

Attendance is compulsory. The teachers will take into account the attendance of students who, to take the final exam, must have at least 80% of attendance.
