Computational mechanics for engineering applications

Short description of the research team

Thematic fields of interest/research areas:

1) Advanced 3D modelling of cracks by means of the eXtended Finite Element Method and the Virtual Element Method.

2) Anisotropic damage-plasticity FE-models.  

3) Mechanobiology of cell monolayers interacting with substrates.

4) Multi-risk assessment and methodologies in civil engineering.

Prerequisites of the trainee researcher:

Level of education: Master thesis degree (with at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience) or Ph.D in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or Numerical Methods in Civil and Mechanical Engineering.

Research experience: required.

Required working language: English.

Further required requisites: Structural Mechanics and Mechanics of Materials expertise, skills in programming languages (Fortran, Matlab)
