Energy efficiency of existing building stock; energy and environmental retrofit of historic buildings; strategies for the smart environment in the existing assets with the use of Key Enable Technologies

Short description of the research team

Thematic fields of interest/research areas: Energy efficiency of existing building stock; energy and environmental retrofit of historic buildings; strategies for the smart environment in the existing assets with the use of Key Enable Technologies. All the fields of interest are focused both on building scale and relative outdoor environment.

Manager/head of the team: Prof. Pietromaria Davoli, full professor in Technology of Architecture and head of research centre Architettura>Energia (A>E), Department of Architecture, UNIFE

Team members: Prof. Marta Calzolari, Prof. Laura Gabrielli, arch. phd Luisa Dias Pereira, arch.phd Valentina Modugno, arch. phd candidate Aurora Ruggeri, arch. phd candidate Francyane Lopez Duarte

Research infrastructures

Specific equipment: UNIFE, founded in 1371, is one of the oldest and most renowned Italian universities. It has 42 FP7, (4 as Coordinator), 16 H2020 (1 coordinated by DA, INCEPTION), several LIFE (1 coordinated by DA, LIFEHEROTILE), 1 as Coordinator and 4 Individual Fellowship MSC, 2 in Grant Preparation phase, several projects funded by other European research programmes; around 800 international cooperation agreements. The academic setting of the host Institution guarantees high standards of research arrangements that fully ensure the necessary requirements to perform high-quality projects. Regarding technical aspects, the Fellow will be well supported by a highly trained team and get free access to the internal UNIFE research library and to many peer-reviewed journals, which is crucial for writing high-impact papers. Moreover, administrative support will be provided by the UNIFE thanks to the presence of several offices able to support both A>E as the fellow (e.g. it has a very attentive international research office available to support every stage of the proposed project). Furthermore, research centre A>E's staff, research infrastructure and networks provide one of the most advanced and appropriate context for its specific topics. The research centre provides a open space laboratory in which work together and a Lab for in situ tests and the access to all the facilities of UNIFE.

Prerequisites of the trainee researcher:

Level of education: Phd level, master degree in Architecture and/or Civil Engineering

Research experience: Expertise and skills in the topics of the research centre A>E (energy efficiency, sustainability, environmental strategies, etc.) and in the use of related softwares

Required working language: English

Further required requisites: Open to team working, capable of socializing but also with a good level of autonomy and initiative
