Marine Ecology, Biotic Indices, Ecological Quality, Water Framework Directive, Marine Strategy Framework Directive
Short description of the research team
Thematic fields of interest/research areas: Marine Ecology, Biotic Indices, Ecological Quality, Water Framework Directive, Marine Strategy Framework Directive
Manager/head of the team: Prof Michele Mistri
Team members: Dr Cristina Munari; Dr Nadia Bocchi
Research infrastructures: an ecology laboratory fully equipped for experiments in micro-and mesocosm, sorting, taxonomic recognition, the determination of the biomass of biological material; a laboratory for analysis of sediment, fully equipped for the determination of sediment texture and trophic content (protein, carbohydrates, lipids, chlorophyll), a hydrochemical laboratory, equipped with two spectrophotometers, multiparametric probes, auto-analyzer, and everything else necessary for quantitative analysis of the hydrochemical parameters of ecological interest, a cytogenetics laboratory, equipped with clean room for cell culture, a molecular biology laboratory, equipped with what is needed to investigate the genetic variability in marine organisms using genomic and mitochondrial markers ( microsatellites, RAPD, AFLP, etc.); a laboratory for histology, equipped for inclusions in paraffin and resin; a center of electron microscopy (SEM, TEM).
