Training objectives
- CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
Student should know the mechanisms of action, therapeutic indications side effects and the mode of administration of the drugs used in the most significant medical therapy.
INTERNAL MEDICINE (onco-hematology)
Knowledge of neoplastic pathology and leukaemia, from pathongenesys to diagnosis, evolution and complications. Knowledge of the main treatments and of their side effects
MEDICAL SEMEIOTICS and INTERNAL MEDICINE
Helping students to understand the most important aspects of Internal Medicine, to favour tight collaboration between nurse and medical doctor. A special attention is devoted to diagnostic procedures (medical history, clinical examination, hematochemical and instrumental examinations) and therapy of several diseases. Prerequisites
- Good knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and general pathology

Neurotransmission: the Autonomic and Somatic Motor Nervous Systems
Neurotransmission and the Central Nervous System
CNS drugs: Anxiolytic and hypnotic drugs,
Antidepressant, Antipsychotic drugs, Anti-Parkinson drugs, Anti- Alzheimer drugs, Antiepileptic drugs.
Opioids and Pain Management: Morphine and derivate drug by opiates.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs . Steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
Cardiac system drugs: Antianginal drugs. Antihypertensive drugs
Drug Therapy for Hypercholesterolemia and Dyslipidemia
Drugs Affecting Gastrointestinal Function: Antacids,Antiulcera drugs, Antiemetic Drugs
Bronchial asthma drugs
Control of blood glucose drugs: Insulin, Oral Hypoglycaemic Agents
General Principles of Antimicrobial Therapy:
Antibacterial drugs. Antifungal drugs. Antiviral drugs
INTERNAL MEDICINE (onco-hematology)
Principles of cancer growth and dissemination. Main treatment modalities of cancer and their side effects. Chemotherapy, hormonal therapies, targeted therapies, immunomodulating agents. Cancer of gastroenteric apparatus. Cancer of the head & neck and of the chest. Breast cancer. Cancer of the genitor-urinary tract. Cancer of the brain. Skin cancer. Emergencies in oncology. Bone metastases. Lymphoid and myeloid acute and chronic leukemias, lymphomas (Hodgkin and non Hodgkin). Myelodysplastic syndromes monoclonal gammopathies, Policytemia, thrombocytemia.
Importance of epidemiology, risk factors and preventive measures. Diagnostics and therapy: nursing implications.
Nursing implications in main diagnoses and problems in working relations. Therapy in complications. Tumours in childhood.
MEDICAL SEMEIOTICS and INTERNAL MEDICINE
Etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy of diseases affecting the cardiovascular system (hypertension, coronary artery diseases, heart failure), the respiratory system (pneumonia and bronchopulmonary, pleuritis, chronic bronchitis and emphysema), inflammatory bowel diseases, diseases of the endocrine system (hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, ipofisi, adrenals). - CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
A partial test every month in the session window (June 1, July 1, September 1, 1st January, February 1). Written exam: 16 multiple choice questions (each with four answers)
Each question is worth 2 points if correct; wrong answer or no answer 0 points; 1 hour.
INTERNAL MEDICINE (onco-hematology)
PART I - Oncology
The examination is oral and involves two questions (and related insights): one related to specific aspects of the disease, and one relating to aspects of general policy. The duration of the interview is about 15 minutes
PART II - Hematology
The exam consists of a written test quiz with 5 possible answers, only one of which is correct. Questions are 16; for each correct answer is awarded 2 points.
The final vote of the onco-hematology module is defined as the average of the two marks obtained in oncology partial tests in hematology. Any decimals are rounded. The module is passed if the overall rating is higher than 18/30, and if it is not a grossly inadequate vote in one of the two partial tests.
MEDICAL SEMEIOTICS AND INTERNAL MEDICINE
Multiple choice written test: 60 closed-answer questions, with 4-5 possible responses each (one only right response), with a score definition of 0.50 point for each correct response, 0 point for each ungiven response, - 0.25 point for each wrong response. Positive test: equal or higher than 36/60 (18/30). Allowed time: 60 minutes.
THE FINAL GRADE IS A ARITHMETIC AVERAGE OF THE MARKS OBTAINED IN EACH TESTS. Reference texts
