Training objectives
- THE MEDICAL SURGICAL EMERGENCIES
Provide the necessary background to understand the essential aspects of emergency surgery, in order to make a correct differential diagnosis of the clinical picture and be able to deal with the emergency medical and surgical treatment.
RESUSCITATION
The course aims at teaching the student to recognize life threatening clinical situations and acquire the basics of management of the critical patient in hospital wards, high tech wards and facilities external to the hospital.
RADIOPROTECTION
To know the principles of radiation protection and the legislation L.187/2000. To know the damage from ionizing radiation and their use in medicine
CLINICAL NURSING IN CRITICAL AREA
To use the nursing care process in emergencies both in and out of hospital.
SEMINAR
Recognize the main cardiorespiratory changes and be able to intervene in situations of emergency and urgency. Prerequisites
- THE MEDICAL SURGICAL EMERGENCIES and RESUSCITATION
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology of organs and systems. Elements of medical pharmacology
RADIOPROTECTION
Elementary bases of ionized radiation physic, with attention for energy utilized for human imaging and the oncological radiotherapy.

- THE MEDICAL SURGICAL EMERGENCIES
The importance of epidemiology, aetiology, risk factors and preventive measures, diagnostics, differential diagnosis and treatment of: disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid, andrenal gland, breast and skin melanoma
Disorders of the larynx, trachea, digestive and urinary systems. Emergency abdominal and thoracic surgical treatment. Vascular, arterial and venal diseases requiring surgery

RADIOPROTECTION
Principles of radioprotection.Ionizing radiation and non-ionizing radiation. Radiation damage and their use in medicine. The principle of justification and optimization; principals used in radiology; L.187/2000.
