- Control of basic methodological tools and command of fundamental issues of Romance  Linguistics (with special attention to the Gallo-, Ibero-romance and Italian
 linguistic families) and textual Philology, with an eye on the traditional historical debate and phenomenological problems of circulation and reception of literary
 products, in the general dynamics of Mediaeval Manuscript Cultures. Improvement of specialized knowledge of Mediaeval Romance Literatures

- Course programme
- This course will introduce linguistic and literary analysis of medieval romance texts in prose and verse. The aim is to provide a basic understanding of a range of literary genres in the Middle Ages, to establish a foundation of linguistic competence in romance languages, and to provide an introduction to the comparative study of romance texts. The focus of the course will be on writing from the 12th-14th centuries, particularly in old French and Provencale, traditions which preceded and extensively influenced Italian literature in its earliest stages

 Lessons will be dedicated to Analysis of a choice of texts from Old French and Old Provençal Literatures. Texts, Translations and specific bibliography will be provided in itinere.
