Training objectives

The main educational objectives of the course are to provide students with the knowledge to create a technical drawing and use 2D and 3D software. The classes will be held for the most part in a computer room (LC2).
Specifically, will address topics related to 2D raster, vector 2D, 3D mechanical and architectural and CGI rendering.
The course explains the mechanical design and the relative regulations, drawings and exercises will be based on European legislation.

Basics of computer graphics

Course programme

Basic of computer science, Computer graphics, Raster and Vector drawing, Dimensional relationships and proportions. Explanation of specific software for raster and vector drawing. 2D, 3D and Real-time rendering. Specific plug-in will be explained depending on the problems detected during classroom practice. Rules of technical drawing, paper sizes, types of lines, header and tables. Orthogonal projections and related conventions and dimensions methodology. Case studies of the most recurrent errors in technical drawing.

Didactic methods

Some lessons will be held as a traditional lectures, another part will be practical exercises held in the classroom. Lessons will last 25 minutes, 5 minutes break, 25 minutes of practice on the topic of the lesson. During class, half of the hours will be used in practical design and modeling, computer lab students will begin to use the tools and create technical drawings and 3D models.
The department of architecture provides desktop computers for students, including the software but is advisable to bring a personal laptop.

Learning assessment procedures

The student will do practical exercises during the course.
These will be reviewed by the teacher and integrated by the student will compose the final delivery (A3 Book).
