Training objectives

The political setting and the legal theory of the most important jurists in Hadrian's council.
Main knowledge: Knowledge of the thought and political role of L. Neratius Priscus; Knowledge of the thought and political role of Juventius Celsus the Younger ; knowledge of the thought and the political role of Salvius Iulianus
Main skills: ability to rebuild the regulatory and legal framework between the reign of Nerva and that of Hadrian; critical analysis of the matter.

Prerequisites

A good basic knowledge, possibly with knowledge of ancient history and of Roman cultural history. To have passed one of the preparatory exams (Private Law , Constitutional Law , Institutions of Roman law or History of Roman law) .

Course programme

Biography, political engagement and the conception of the law by Lucius Neratius Priscus (14 hours), Iuventius Celsus filius (13 hours), Salvius Iulianus (13 hours), the most important jurists in Hadrian's council.

Didactic methods

lessons that illustrate the entire content of the program with a reading and discussion of the most important texts from which one can derive scientific, cultural and political development of the three great Hadrian jurists.

Learning assessment procedures

Oral exam, with open questions, the total duration of about thirty minutes.The number of questions is appropriate to assess the candidate's knowledge. The knowledge and critical understanding of the program's arguments are checked. The vote comes from the overall assessment of the answers given by the candidate.
