Visiting professors - staff from abroad with teaching contracts

This section is dedicated to staff with EU or extra-EU citizenship who have won a call for applications to teach at the University of Ferrara.

Teachers with EU-citizenship 

Upon arrival in Italy, contact the Competitions and Contract Teachers Department via e-mail at concorsi@unife.it to check the steps necessary to conclude the contract.

Teachers with non-EU citizenship

Please wait for notification from the Careers Guidance, Reception  and Incoming Office that will provide you with all the necessary information for each of the steps listed below, which are essential in order to issue the visa and subsequent residence permit for teaching purposes (WARNING! this procedure may take up to 3 months from the date of approval of the documents by the Board of Directors).

 

Before arrival

  • Provide the office with all the data required to issue the 'Nulla osta’ (Declaration of No Impediment), whose application will be forwarded to the Police Headquarters in Ferrara by the staff;
  • Wait until you receive a copy of the "Nulla osta" (Declaration of No Impediment) from the Careers Guidance, Reception and Incoming Office;
  • Contact the Visa Office of the Italian embassy or consulate where you intend to apply for a teaching visa;
  • Please inform the Careers Guidance, Reception and Incoming Office of your date of arrival in Italy and send a copy of your entry visa.

Upon arrival

  • Go to the Agenzia delle Entrate (Italian Tax Authority), located at Via Luigi Maverna, No. 4 - Ferrara, to obtain a tax code;
  • Submit an application for a residence permit for self-employment (if necessary, you can ask a CAF (Tax Advisory Centre) for help in filling in the form);
  • Contact the Competitions and Contract Teachers Office - concorsi@unife.it to conclude the contract, enclosing a copy of the receipt for the application for both the residence permit and the tax code.

At the end of the procedure, contact the relevant department with regards to the organisational aspects of the teaching activities.
