Entrance visa request

All non-EU citizens living abroad, wishing to apply for admission to a degree course at the University of Ferrara, have to register on the Universitaly platform that enables them to both apply to the University and to request a visa for study purposes.

The pre-enrolment procedure is mainly divided into two steps:

  •     the registration on the platform in order to create a personal account;
  •     the application for admission to a degree course at the University of Ferrara.

The University shall evaluate all requests and the eligible applicants shall be admitted upon their arrival in Ferrara, when they will have to hand in their original school and/or academic qualifications as proof of authenticity.

The deadline to apply for pre-evaluation onto the Universitaly website is:

  • the 30th of June for our Master's degree courses in Small business management in international markets, Green economy and sustainable transitions, Physics.
  • the 30th of June for all other Master's degree courses
  • the 31st of July for all Bachelor's degree courses.

Please note that pre-enrolment at the university does not, in any way, guarantee an appointment at the diplomatic-consular representations for the submission of visa applications.

It is also reminded that, as already stated in the ministerial circular titled “Procedures for the entry, residence, enrolment of international students and the recognition of their qualifications for higher education courses in Italy valid for the academic year 2026-2027”, the prior acceptance of a candidate by the university does not grant any right to obtain a visa, considering that the issuance of a study visa falls exclusively under the responsibility of the individual diplomatic-consular representations.

Due to some updated requests from Italian embassies/consulates in the world, at the time of your visa appointment with them you will have to present, among other documents, the CIMEA statements of comparability and verification OR the Declaration of Value and, if English is not your mother tongue, also an internationally recognised English certificate of at least level B2. These further requirements come directly from the Italian embassies and are stated in the Procedures for entry, residency and enrolment of international students published on Universitaly

WITHIN A MONTH of their study visa issuance non-EU students have to come to Ferrara and book an appointment with our front desk Studenti Internazionali to complete their enrolment procedure.

Only for late study visa issuance the deadline for enrolling non-EU students is January 31st.
