Training objectives

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 000069 - BIOLOGIA GENERALE
------------------------------------------------------------
This course focuses on the basic concepts of the biology of the cell and it is a combination of two major parts, namely General Biology and Cell Biology. The main goal is to drive the students towards the understanding of the molecular basis of cellular organization and function.
The student will learn necessary notions about prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, on the structure and function of the cell compartments, on energy metabolism, on the flow of the genetic information, on cell division and on the specific methodologies to study the biology of the cell in any environment. Cell death, cell proliferation and transformation will also be discussed, together with the origin of life and the evolution of the cell and the general characteristics of the five Kingdoms system of classification for living organisms.

Modulo: 004662 - BIOLOGIA CELLULARE
------------------------------------------------------------
The course includes 48 hours of lectures for General Biology (6 CFU) and 48 hours of lectures for Cell Biology (6 CFU) for a total of 96 hours and 12 CFU. Topics will be discussed with the assistance of PowerPoint slides using reference texts integrated with the most recent published works.

Learning assessment procedures

The purpose of the final test will be to verify the knowledge of the topics of the course. The test is composed of 31 multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer has a value of 1/30, for a total of 31 points, corresponding to a maximum score of 30/30 magna cum laude. To pass the test, the student must answer correctly to at least 18 questions (score 18/30). The student will have 40 minutes to complete the test. The test could be delivered through online platforms such as Google Meet.
For DSA students, the procedure and the duration of the test will be evaluated individually.
