Training objectives

LABORATORY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND SOCIAL MEDIA FOR TOURISM (MIC) and FUNDAMENTALS OF COMPUTER SCIENCE (STC)
The course allows to acquire the methodological and technological knowledge for the management of information and knowledge. The course will allow you to understand and acquire skills to use standard tools, on-line and off-line to communicate and collect data and information to be used in communication processes.
The technological and methodological knowledge will be used during the course to allow the use of online communication tools in a creative way and aimed at communication for tourism.

LABORATORY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND SOCIAL MEDIA FOR TOURISM (MIC)
The course will allow to understand and use the communication structure and the social media algorithms for their efficient application in the context of tourism.
The technological and methodological knowledge will also be used for an effective and creative design of interactive and multimedia objects, networks, for tourism, with attention to the Mobile Devices context.

Prerequisites

LABORATORY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND SOCIAL MEDIA FOR TOURISM (MIC) and FUNDAMENTALS OF COMPUTER SCIENCE (STC)
Prerequisites are not required, but it is desirable for students to be familiar with the most common social networks, social media and which are the standard tools and which allow the production of textual and multimedia contents.

The course is structured according to two macro modules

• History and structure of social networks and social media
• Contents: metadata and research
• Search engines
• Accessibility and usability, design and testing
• History, structure and tools of Augmented, Virtual and Immersive Reality (AR, VR and RI)

• Knowledge and use of on-line tools for the production of interactive and multimedia media
• Knowledge and use of online tools for the production of RI
• Creation of elementary prototypes for communication

• Social media and social network ranking algorithms e

• Analysis of applications and case studies of the application of social media in tourism

Didactic methods

LABORATORY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND SOCIAL MEDIA FOR TOURISM (MIC) and FUNDAMENTALS OF COMPUTER SCIENCE (STC)
The course includes both theoretical lessons and exercises with the use of technologies. Theoretical lessons will use a methodology that integrates frontal and dialogic lessons through the explanation of basic concepts and their discussion through the analysis of applications and texts that approach them. The practical lessons both in the classroom and in the laboratory include the design, creation of prototypes and evaluation of communication tools through social media, with reference to the teaching of "Laboratory of Informatics and Social Media for Tourism" to tourist applications.
Evaluations will be made using standard and validated testing tools.

The lessons will be held face to face and supplementary material (Videolessons, eBooks and Reading) will be provided through the reference ClassRoom to support those who cannot attend the entire course or some lessons.

Learning assessment procedures

The course includes a final exam, consisting of a written test and a practical paper to be presented.
The final exam consists of 2 parts to verify both the acquisition of cognitive and operational skills.
WRITTEN TEST (30 minutes)
• 19 closed items
• 1 open question (short answer)
The items are divided into 2 sections

The course includes a final exam, consisting of a written test and a practical paper to be presented.
The final exam consists of 2 parts to verify both the acquisition of cognitive and operational skills.
WRITTEN TEST (40 minutes)
• 20 closed items
• 2 open questions (short answer)
The items will specifically concern detailed topics during the course of the teaching and the open questions will focus on the topics explored through the bibliography.

MULTIMEDIA AND APPLICATION WORK
Work, an interactive multimedia document, with an online tools among those introduced by the course, accompanied by the compilation of a form describing its main characteristics
The work will be carried out independently by the student who will present it (in digital form and in the manner indicated on the reference Classroom and in the useful information - exam structure of the teaching sheet) by the date of the written exam.
The work will be evaluated in relation to the consistency and the description that is requested through the form.

The final evaluation will be the weighted sum (max. 30 points) of the evaluations of the two parties, written test and multimedia product, with a proportion of:
• Practical test: 45% of the final grade (max. 13.5 points)
• Written test: 55% of the final grade (max. 16.5)
