Typical experiments including auditory stimuli require millisecond accuracy. However, beside software related accuracy, one must consider the hardware error component too. Average audio cards are not meant for millisecond accuracy at all. There’s always a delay (and some jitter too) between the “play” command and actual sound output. Furthermore, the audio file length may be altered and vary across trials...The Precision Sound Timing BOX, together with the UPF, solve these issues via an external, cheap and small box. Smell BOX with UPF

Typical experiments including olfactory stimuli require good timing accuracy. In order to do that, dedicated and expensive hardware is always necessary. Here we designed a cheap and accurate device to deliver olfactory stimuli by using UPF. Stimulus delivery can be easily triggered via external software (or hardware) via TTL communication.
