Training objectives

At the end of the course the student will be able to know and apply the main techniques of anthropometry and kinanthropometry in the field of motor sciences and sports, and in particular what concerns the identification of talents and the morphological optimization. At the end of the course, the student is able to evaluate the physical characteristics necessary to optimize sports performance at a high level, and the influence of sports practice, amateur or not, on the physical structure in children and adults

Prerequisites

None

Course programme

- Definition of kinanthropometry and its applications
- Concept of Talent Identification, morphological optimization and morphological prediction
- Anthropometric factors determining an athlete's success
- anthropometric aspects of selection; the anthropometric profile of athletes. Physical and constitutional characteristics of high level athletes. Body constitution, body proportions, physical shape and performance: examples of morphological optimizations (i.e. height, weight, strength and hand size, digit ratio). Perception of body image and athletes
- Kinanthropometry applied to children: evaluation of biological maturity. Techniques of prediction of stature in adulthood. Maturation and performance: variations in performance associated with maturation
- bone mineral density and sport

Didactic methods

Frontal lessons will be recorded and sent to the student via Google Classroom. Optionally streaming meetings.

Learning assessment procedures

The student can choose one of these two examination modalities:
- Oral presentation (with powerpoint) lasting 10 minutes on a subject chosen by the student and relevant to the subject.
- Oral examination
