Training objectives

Though the internship of third year is increase the importance of the internship experience and the student develops responsibility and autonomy. The student learns the treatment methodology basing on setting.
At the end of the internship the student is able to treat the patient and he must demonstrate to be capable of taking charge of a patient with gradual assumption of responsibility. The student learns knowledge about methodology of scientific and clinic research, which will be useful to write the final project. The student learns knowledge about management, which are useful to professional development in working background.
The student can do a internship experience in other location, the duration and the location of experience has chosen together the educational director.

The course forecasts 250 hours of internship. These are shaded as:
-250 hours of internship which are conducted to different location. These hours are useful to learn and to carry out:
-To be able to apply the process of rehabilitation in patients children and adults
-To plan, to carry out and to evaluate the visual rehabilitation
-To do the check of the results of visual rehabilitation
-To can explain a project
-To do the description, understanding and interpretation of semiotics instrumental exams in ophthalmology, to propose the rehabilitative project based on setting,
- to increase students' willingness - to work in an interprofessional team through an interprofessional education project (IPE) carried out within Unife's rehabilitation study courses with the use of the role playing teaching simulation method.

12 hours of Seminar 4 "Interprofessional rehabilitation project in patients with learning disabilities" dedicated to the design of a rehabilitation plan with interprofessional care of the patient with learning disabilities.

The module is composed by:Guide internship, Frontal lectures,Team work, Problem based learning
The internship is done in some placement which are defined by the Orthoptics Course Council. All tutors of each placement, work together to planning, to management and to evaluation.

Learning assessment procedures

The student can do the exam when he will finish the hours amount of 100% of third year.
The assessment forms to evaluate the learning outcomes of internship are available at web Site of degree and into of guidelines of internship (http://www.unife.it/medicina/ortottica/studiare/tirocinio).
The aim of the exam is to verify the level of learning outcomes and the final mark will be the average of marks of of: Practical exam of internship, Seminary 4.
PRACTICAL EXAM OF INTERNSHIP: The knowledge and skills will be evaluated by the Dublin’s descriptor, which belong following areas: prevention, therapeutics education, care and rehabilitation, management, professional responsibility, training and self-training, communication and relationship and EBP. The exam is composed by:
- OSCE-Observed Structured Clinical Examinatio and Mini-CEX Mini clinical evaluation exercize;
The mark will be expressed on thirtieth and will be composed by:
- the average of marks of each area,
- seminar 4.
The final mark will be shared with the student. To pass the exam it is necessary to get at least 18 point out of 30.
SEMINARY 4: the knowledge and skills acquired will be tested directly in the field at the same time as the practical test and evaluated in 30/30.
