In particular, at the end of the course the student will learn the main methods to understand correctly scientific results, to interpret statistical inference, and to perform basic analyses on non-complex databases.
APPLIED BIOLOGY
Know the main functions of the cell and the mechanisms related to the preservation, expression and transmission of genetic information.
MICROBIOLOGY
The objective of the Microbiology course is to provide theoretical technical information on microrganisms (bacteria, viruses, mycetes and parassites), their interaction with the environment and humans, and the main route of transmission and prevention of infectious diseases.

Prerequisites

Didactic methods

BIOCHEMISTRY
Lectures, including slide shows and some exercise on the board relating to topics a) concentration of the solutions and b) pH. Involvement of students on the practical significance of the biochemical knowledge gained with questions regarding the topics.
For other modules: Lectures and, for the Computer Module, practical training in computer lab.

Learning assessment procedures

PHYSICS
Written exam: 10 multiple choice questions (each with 5 responses). Rating: 3 for points correct answer, 0 points for wrong answer or question not answered. The correct answer is validated only if the student submits the proof. Time allotted 45 min.To pass this test it is required to get at least 18 points out of 30.
MEDICAL STATISTICS
Written test: 15 multiple choice questions, each with 4 answers. More than a correct answer is possible, from one to four for each question. Every question is worth 2 points; every wrong answer or a correct answer that has not been indicated, minus 1 point. Duration: 30 minutes. To pass the exam, the score has to be 18 or higher.
COMPUTER SCIENCE
Written test of 24 multiple choice questions (with 3 answers each) and 4 open (1 point for each answer, 0 points if wrong or no answer) on the following topics:
Excel Base - Excel Advanced - PowerPoint - Word
A list of possible open questions will be provided
BIOCHEMISTRY
Written exam lasting 1 hour and half.
Chemistry part: 20 questions with 3 answers for each question, right question 1 point, wrong or not answered 0 point. Minimal rank to overcome this part is 7, maximal 16 if all is right. Biochemistry part: 10 multiple choice questions and 5 with open answer.
Final mark will be the sum of the chemistry and biochemistry rank. Laude which consists of one more point will be gained if all done is right.
APPLIED BIOLOGY
The test includes a written test consisting of 31 questions, some of which provide a closed answer and some questions are open-ended. For each correct answer 1 point and no points for answers not given or incorrect. Verification with 31 positive responses on / 31 total, provides a score of 30/30 and laud. The written test lasts 45 minutes.
MICROBIOLOGY
Written exam: 31 multiple choice questions (5 choices). Evaluation: 1 point for each exact question, 0 point for a wrong question, 0 point for an unanswered question. To pass the exam it is necessary to acquire at least 18 points The exam with 31 write answers correspond to 30/30 Lode. The exam lasts 45 minutes.
THE FINAL GRADE IS A WEIGHTED AVERAGE OF THE MARKS OBTAINED IN EACH TEST.
