Training objectives

SYMPTOMATOLOGY OF SPEECH –LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY
The aims of the course are to enable the student to:
Recognise the signs and symptoms of patients affected by cancer of the larynx and those following laryngectomy (partial and total)
Acuire basic notions on articulation and fluency disorders, cleft palate and their relative treatments:
These topics constitute the skills required for the practice of speech therapy in the treatment of mechanical and pheripheral dyslalia as well as stammering
EVALUATION
The aim is to provide the student with the knowledge for correct use of the evaluation tools for some speech language pathologies: hearing/perceptive impairments and language disorders.
SPEECH THERAPY IN PATHOLOGY OF ITEM
Provide the basis for the rehabilitation of organic and functional voice disorders, of partial and total laryngectomy, even with prosthetic aids.
SPEECH THERAPY IN DISORDERS OF ORAL FUNCTION
Provide the basis for the rehabilitation of IVF, of swallowing, of organic and functional dyslalia.
SPEECH THERAPY IN STUMMERING
To recognize, assess and rehabilitate disorders of verbal fluency in childhood, adolescence and adulthood.

Prerequisites

The basic principles of anatomy of systems involved in speech; respiration resonation, speech production, articulation. Knowledge of the physiological development of language, language disorders, auditory-perceptual disorders. Knowledge of the anatomy of the respiratory system and vibration apparatus of articulation and resonance. Knowledge of the concept of normal fluency and their variables, the concept of knowledge and its influence pathological variables in childhood, adolescence and adulthood.

Course programme

SYMPTOMATOLOGY OF SPEECH –LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY
Symptomalogy of cancer of the larynx. Symptomatology of laryngectomy. Supervised experience in outpatient clinic for swallowing and voice related disorders
Classification of mechanical and peripheral dyslalia, and dysfluency according to etiology, function and clinical type, diagnostic approach and rehabilitation
EVALUATION
What are the assessment tools in the field of speech therapy. How they are made. How, when and why to use them. Analysis and practical application test of perception and language.
SPEECH THERAPY IN PATHOLOGY OF ITEM
Finding the disphonic voice based on its physical parameters. Application of cost-diaphragmatic breathing exercises, coordination exercises and audio pneumo-specific vocalization for all types of dysphonia. Rehabilitation techniques for the production of the pharyngo-esophageal voice, with tracheoesophageal prosthesis and prosthesis with electronic necked.
PEECH THERAPY IN DISORDERS OF ORAL FUNCTION
Evaluation and practical application of the techniques of rehabilitation of organic and functional dyslalia, the IVF and swallowing.
SPEECH THERAPY IN STUMMERING
Rehabilitation of disfluencies speech therapy in childhood, adolescence and adulthood.

SYMPTOMATOLOGY OF SPEECH –LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY
Written test consisting of 30 multiple choice questions; the time available to the student is 1 hour. The score is calculated by assigning 1 point for each correct answer. Praise you get correctly answering all 30 questions.
ASSESSMENT IN SPEECH THERAPY
Written test with open-ended questions. The weather in the student's disposal is 1 hour.
SPEECH THERAPY IN VOICE PATHOLOGY
Oral exam with two theoretical questions and a debate on a proposed clinical case. The time available to the student is approximately 20-30 minutes
SPEECH THERAPY IN DISORDERS OF THE ORAL FUNCTION
Oral exam with two theoretical questions and a reflection on a proposed clinical case. The time available to the student is approximately 20-30 minutes
DISFLUENCIES IN SPEECH THERAPY
Oral test indicated as work to be done in groups; the teacher proposes three clinical cases and students, after divided into groups, choose the track you want to address and how to organize the exhibition in order to show the understanding of theoretical content and practical skills to address the case chosen.
THE FINAL GRADE IS A WEIGHTED AVERAGE OF THE MARKS OBTAINED IN EACH TEST.
