Training objectives

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 000671 - MALATTIE INFETTIVE
------------------------------------------------------------
To have systematic knowledge of the more important Infectious and Tropical Diseases sustained by bacteria, virus, parasites and fungi, under the etiopathogenetic aspect. Ability to integrate the anamnestic data, symptoms, clinical signs related to the various Infectious Diseases by mean of clinical, instrumental approaches and laboratory diagnosis.
knowledge of Antibiotics of the major Infectious and Tropical diseases. “Infection Control” and “Antimicrobial Stewardship”. Concepts of chemoprophylaxis of Infectious and Tropical diseases

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 015126/1 - REUMATOLOGIA
------------------------------------------------------------
RHEUMATOLOGY
Knowledge of the classification of rheumatic diseases and knowledge of the clinical pictures of the main rheumatic diseases (both inflammatory and degenerative) with particular reference to those rheumatic diseases which can manifest with involvement of the oral cavity.
The student should be able to autonomously recognize the clinical pictures of the main rheumatic disease and should be advised for a prompt referral to the rheumatology specialist of those conditions which need further diagnostic and therapeutic approach. Appropriate communications skills with the patients are also required.

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 019630/1 - DERMATOLOGIA
------------------------------------------------------------
DERMATOLOGY
Knowledge of diseases that involve primarely or secondarely the oral cavity. Recognition of ulcerative, preneoplastic and neoplastic diseases of lips and oral mucosae. Knowledge of basic treatment for oral diseases.

Prerequisites

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 000671 - MALATTIE INFETTIVE
------------------------------------------------------------
To have basic knowledge of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Microbiology. In particular, the student must have the microbiological basis (knowledge of microorganisms) in order to understand the standard diagnostic procedures of Infectious and Tropical Diseases. This is of fundamental importance to set differential diagnosis among the various Infectious Diseases.

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 015126/1 - REUMATOLOGIA
------------------------------------------------------------
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the musculo-skeletal apparatus and joints.
Basic knowledge of biology, molecular biology, genetics, cell physiology and immunology with particular reference to the immune-mediated inflammatory processes and autoimmunity.
Principles of pharmacology and knowledge of general clinical semeiology.

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 019630/1 - DERMATOLOGIA
------------------------------------------------------------
DERMATOLOGY
Anatomy and physiology of the mouth. Basic knowledge of microbiology and general pathology.

Course programme

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 000671 - MALATTIE INFETTIVE
------------------------------------------------------------
To have knowledge of the most important defense's mechanisms against the Infectious and Tropical Diseases (natural and acquired immunity) and transmission. Knowledge of the major Infectious and Tropical Diseases according to the epidemiology, etiology and clinical picture.
In particular, the student must know: fever, sepsis and septic shock, infectious endocarditis myocarditis and pericarditis, respiratory infections (pharyngitis, bronchopneumonia and pneumonia) including tuberculosis, foodborne infections, typhoid fever and infectious diarrhea, acute and chronic viral hepatitis; meningitis, meningoencephalitis and encephalomyelitis; biliary and urinary tract infections, osteomyelitis and spondylodiscitis, skin and soft tissue infections (SSTI), meta-focal disease. Infections associated with pregnancy, sexual transmitted diseases. Infections in the compromised and transplant patient; HIV/AIDS and AIDS-related opportunistic infections. Health care associated infections (vascular catheters, surgical site infection, urinary tract infections, nosocomial pneumonia). Coronavirus infections (SARS, MERS, SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19). Main human zoonoses (leptospirosis, brucellosis, rickettsiosis, listeriosis, bartonellosis, borreliosis (Lyme disease), listeriosis). Mycoplasma and Chlamydia infections, Herpesvirus infections (Citomegalovirus, Epstein Barr virus, Herpes simplex and varicella-zoster), enterovirus (ECHO and Coxsackie virus). Main parasitosis of human interest: malaria, leishmaniasis, toxoplasmosis). Most important imported infections other than Malaria (Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika virus, arbovirus, including West Nile).

Didactic methods

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 000671 - MALATTIE INFETTIVE
------------------------------------------------------------
The Infectious Diseases module provides frontal lectures and on-line assisted teaching. Laboratory exercises are optional. Clinical cases during some frontal lessons that treat frequent observed pathologies (e.g pneumonia, hepatitis, gastroenteritis, meningitis, endocarditis, sepsis, AIDS, COVID-19.

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 015126/1 - REUMATOLOGIA
------------------------------------------------------------
Formal teaching, presentation of clinical slides with interactive discussion

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 019630/1 - DERMATOLOGIA
------------------------------------------------------------
DERMATOLOGY
Formal teaching, presentation of clinical slides with interactive discussion and diagnostic hypotesis.

Learning assessment procedures

DERMATOLOGY: oral exam. 2-4 questions will be asked with possible comments on images, to test the candidate's observation and deduction skills. The presentation ability and the possible differential diagnoses on the topics covered during the frontal teaching will also be evaluated. The exam will last approximately 20 minutes.
INFECTIOUS DISEASES
The student must know the topics related to the Infectious and Tropical Diseases program that the teacher carries out during the cycles of lessons, to be completed with the textbook.
Oral examination. The duration of the exam is approximately 20-30 minutes. In addition to knowledge of the subject, expository clarity, precision and study method are taken into consideration.
RHEUMATOLOGY
Written test via multiple-choice quiz with the possibility of taking the oral exam in case of failure to pass the test. The test consists of 30 questions with 4 possible answers (only one correct). The score is calculated by attributing 1 point to each correct answer and 0 points in case of an incorrect or missing answer. The test is passed with a score of = 18. In the event of 30 out of 30 correct answers, an additional quiz is required for the attribution of honours. Allotted time : 1 hour. Consulting texts, using tablets, PCs, smartphones is not permitted.)
The final mark results from the weighted average of the marks obtained in each of the three tests.
