Training objectives

DENTAL DISEASES
Knowledge of the basic pathology of the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity
MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY
Basic knowledge of fractures, malformations, tumors and pre-prosthetic surgery
OTORINOLARINGOIATRY and AUDIOLOGY
Knowledge about pathology of nose, throat, larynx, auditory and stomatognatic apparatus.

Prerequisites

Anatomy, physiology and ORL pathology, knowledge of anatomy and physiology of ear and of oral cavity.

Course programme

DENTAL DISEASES
Dental anomalies: morfology, number and structure. Dental lesions: caries and pulpitis (etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment).
Oral hard tissue lesions: periapical periodontal disease, inflammatory cysts and tumors (etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment).
Oral soft tissue lesions: oral potentially malignant disorders and stomatitis (etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment).
Periodontal diseases: etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis.
Craniomandibular disorders and major malocclusions: etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment.
MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY
Anatomy of the face; fractures of mandible, maxilla, zygoma, orbit, nose; orthognatic surgery and II and III skeletal class; facial malformations: cleft lip and palate, stenosis of face and cranial vault; tumors of oral cavity and paranasal sinuses; pre-prosthetic surgery; cysts.
OTORINOLARINGOIATRY
Nasal symptoms, acute and chronic sinusitis, allergic rhinopaty, cephalea, maxillary sinus, adenotonsillectomy, pharyngitis, oral and oropharynx cancer, salivary glands pathology, benignant and malignant salivary glands cancer, facial nerve pathology, non neoplastic laryngeal pathology, larynx cancer, neck neoplasms.
AUDIOLOGY
Clinical and diagnosis of hearing loss: coclear and retrococlear pathology. Tinnitus: diagnosis and therapeutical options. Hearing loss in the infancy and language development disorders. Vertigo. Otosclerosis and chronic otitis media. Fundamentals of ear surgery.

DENTAL DISEASES
Oral examination; The test lasts about 10 minutes and focuses on the discussion of a topic chosen by the candidate.
The degree of readiness is evaluated by the clarity of exposition, the properties of language and the ability to relate with local pathology systemic diseases.
MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY
Oral exam with three questions for 10 minutes each (average interval 8-12 minutes), with the following criteria (qualitative) used in the evaluation: clarity and precision.
OTORINOLARINGOIATRY
Oral examination. The test lasts 20-30 minutes and is divided on average on the formulation of 4/5 questions that students must answer in a clear, comprehensive and precise. The analytical and logical link between the various arguments is appreciated.
AUDIOLOGY
Oral examination. The test lasts 15-20 minutes and is divided on average on the formulation of 3 questions that students must answer in a clear, comprehensive and precise. The analytical and logical link between the various arguments is appreciated
The final grade is a weighted average of the marks obtained in each of the four tests
