Training objectives
- The student will learn the basic of epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of Alcohol-Related Disease (ARP) and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD).
Prerequisites
- Knowledge of general pathology, internal medicine, gastroenterology, and pharmacology.
Course programme
- Epidemiology, clinical, diagnosis and treatment of ARP and AUD. Management of acute and chronic alcohol -related liver disease. Pharmacological treatment of alcohol withdrawal syndrome and of the maintenance of alcohol abstinence. Gender differences regarding the clinical and treatment aspects.
Didactic methods
- Formal teaching or on-line teaching using slides.
Learning assessment procedures
- Oral exam. Three questions will be done. The exam will last 20-25 minutes. The awareness of ARD and AUD will be evaluated, in particular the clinical aspects, the diagnostic tools and the pharmacological management of the disease. To pass the exam it is necessary to get at least 18 point out of 30.
