Training objectives
- To recognise and treat medical, surgical and traumatic emergencies
Prerequisites
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. Motivation to meet patients and understand their needs.
Course programme
- In–hospital emergency
Major trauma
Acid base balance and blood gas interpretation. Acute cardiac failure. Volume and and electrolyte balance . Near fatal asthma. Acute respiratory failure
Acute abdomen. Antibiotics therapy in ICU. Shock and tissue hypoperfusion. Peritonities. Volume replacement therapy
Practicals in the fields:
- Acute respiratory failure: how to recognize and treat
- Blood gas analysis
- Hypoperfusion: volume and electrolyte balance
- Emergency surgery
- Surgical and ICU patient on the ward
- High fidelity simulation
5 discussion and report of clinical case Didactic methods
- Traditional lectures, PBL, High Fidelity Simulation, Skills.
Learning assessment procedures
- Multiple choice test: 50 questions with 4 possible answers. Duration: 2 hours.
Given the particular teaching method with which they are required courses (PBL) and the organization of the final exam, the exam must be done at the end of each cycle of lessons and not in years other than the frequency. Reference texts
