Training objectives
- The course is totally practical, and can be considered as an extension of the 3rd year internship. It includes the deepening of knowledge and skills that characterize the profession of the biomedical laboratory technician.
The knowledge deepening includes subjects as the organization and structure of the biomedical laboratory, the management of its security of colleagues, the type of tests performed in the laboratory and their quality control.
The main practical skills that students should deepen include the ability to run properly and independently the techniques used in the biomedical laboratory where he is doing his elective internship. Prerequisites
- Training of second year
Course programme
- Practice in one of the biomedical laboratories, either of the university or of the hospital, participating in the educational program of the course: Clinical Microbiology laboratories, Serology, Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular Virology, Medical Cytogenetics, Medical Molecular Genetics, Haematology, Immunotransfusion Service, Hospital Pharmacy, Endocrinology, Experimental Oncology, Histology, Medical Genomics, General Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pathology, General Pathology and Hygiene.
Didactic methods
- Teaching activities with a high practical content coaching guidance of tutors to each student.
Learning assessment procedures
- Progress tests and assessment also through the evaluations from internship guides who supervised the student during the period of activity in the laboratory.
