Training objectives

METHODOLOGY OF NURSING RESEARCH
Understand the importance of research to improve nursing care, the organization of work and training. Understand the importance of the use of research findings as the basis of its decision-making process. Know the stages of the research process. Understanding the relationship between research problem, research design and data collection techniques. Knowing the correlations between thesis work and research process.
Distinguish the characteristics and the use between a quantitative and qualitative research.
STATISTICS
Gain knowledge on the statistical methods and their application in the following fields: biomedical, epidemiological; know the data processing systems in order to evaluate more common statistical results in biomedical literature.
EVIDENCE BASED NURSING
Know the concept of EBN; knowing how to perform the literature search; be able to prepare a review of the literature.

Prerequisites

METHODOLOGY OF NURSING RESEARCH and EBN
Nursing, introductory sciences. Statistics, hygiene, informatics
STATISTICS
Basic knowledge in descriptive statistics and informatics.

Course programme

METHODOLOGY OF NURSING RESEARCH
Definition of research and role in nursing.
Role of the nurse in the research process, methodological rigor in the writing of the research project according to the model of C. Sironi; models of the thesis; quantitative approach.
Qualitative research and research within the organization: the contribution and role of the nurse.
STATISTICS
Statistical inference: point estimation and interval estimation. Hypothesis testing: operating logic of a statistical test, parametric and non-parametric statistical tests, regression and correlation.
EBN
Identification of keywords compared to the problem identified.
Search engines and databases for the health professions.
Databases and systematic reviews, guidelines, and evidence of effectiveness.
The review of the literature.
