Training objectives

PEDIATRICS
The aim of the courses is to provide adequate theoretical and practical knowledge for nursing care in the pediatric department
GYNAECOLOGY / OBSTETRICS
The student must acquire the appropriate knowledge to provide adequate nursing care in the outpatient setting and hospitalization in relation to major obstetric and gynecological pathologies. In particular, it will have to acquire the ability to recognize obstetric and gynecological emergencies; learn about the dynamics of physiological labour and spontaneous delivery and standards of care in the postpartum and puerperium ; know the meaning of the main clinical and instrumental surveys used in obstetrics and gynecology. It must also acquire general pathophysiological knowledge requests for nursing care as part of organized screening for cancer prevention, prevention of climacteric disorders, for birth control and assisted reproduction.
PEDIATRIC NURSING
On completion of the course the student is expected to know:
-the characteristics and needs of paediatric nursing in the various phases of the patient in developing age.
-some methods and tools used to improve healthcare assistance in the hospital.
-the process of hospitalisation/treatment/ discharge of the neonate/child/adolescent undergoing surgery (differences in relation to the adult patient)
--tools to evaluate acute and chronic pain use din Paediatrics, and the pain management.
The main pharmacological treatments in the neonatal and paediatric patient both in hospital and at home.
SEMINAR
Nursing care in paediatric and neonatal emergencies.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of anatomy the female genital apparatus , physiology of the menstrual cycle
Knowledge of general and specialist paediatrics and applied nursing practice

Course programme

PEDIATRICS
Growth and development in pediatric age. The healthy and critical newborn.
Nutritional requirements and nutrition. Pediatric critical care. Respiratory tract disorders. Allergic diseases. Gastrointestinal disorders. Endocrine disorders. Cardiovascular diseases, hematologic disorders. Neoplastic diseases. Kidney diseases. Neurologic diseases. Infectious diseases.
GYNAECOLOGY / OBSTETRICS
Basic principles of clinical and instrumental tests concerning the female genital tract.
The pregnancy diagnosis. Prenatal diagnosis.
Bleeding in the first trimester of pregnancy: abortion, ectopic pregnancy, trophoblastic disease. Obstetric emergencies in the second or third trimester of pregnancy: placenta previa, placental abruption
Hypertension in pregnancy.
Spontaneous delivery and puerperium
General overview of techniques for medically assisted procreation.
Clinical diagnosis of abnormal uterine bleeding.
Sexually transmitted diseases, PID: prevention and clinical diagnosis
Pelvic masses (fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian masses): clinical presentation and clinical care.
Woman’s health in post-menopause
The contraceptive methods.
Cancer prevention in gynecology.
PEDIATRIC NURSING
-needs of paediatric nursing in the various phases of the patient in developing age.

-problems involved in informed consent for treatment of a minor
- the process of hospitalisation/treatment/ discharge of the neonate/child/adolescent
-main healthcare procedure: blood tests, insertion and management of peripheral venous catheters in paediatric setting; samples of biological material; medication of umbilical cord; insertion of naso-gastric probe; vital parameters.
-acute and chronic pain in neonate/child/adolescenet. Tools used to measure and evaluate pain
-Phrarmacological treatment in neonatology and pediatrics: clinical risk management and tools/methods for safety in pharmacological treatment.

Learning assessment procedures

PEDIATRICS
Written exam quiz with multiple choice and open questions 2/3, typically 20 questions (1.5 points quizzes and 3 points open questions) to be completed in 20 minutes. And 'possible to carry out the written test 1 only once in the academic year.
Oral examination: 2/3 questions on various subjects for the duration of about 20 min; are valued: knowledge of the subject, the ability of interdisciplinary links, references to nursing practice, the properties of language and the exposure quality
GYNAECOLOGY / OBSTETRICS:
Written exam consists of 10 questions of which four closed questions and 2 open questions (1 point for closed questions and 2 points open questions) to be completed in 15 minutes.Is possible to carry out the written exam only once during the academic year. The test has been carried out together with the other written tests of the course. the exam is passed with a minimum score of 6 points being converted into thirty
Oral exam: lasting about 20 minutes with 2/3 questions on topics of the program are evaluated: knowledge of the subject, the ability of interdisciplinary links, references to nursing practice, the properties of language and the exposure quality. The rating is thirty.
PEDIATRIC NURSING: Written examination with open questions lasting one hour. The test is to verify the level of achievement of educational objectives by assessing the knowledge and the student's ability to apply nursing in healthy newborns and hospitalized child, making adequate information to the family , Activate nursing care in case of emergency / pediatric and neonatal emergency . To pass the test you must acquire a 18/30 score.
SEMINAR: Practical exam with USL instructor
THE FINAL GRADE IS A WEIGHTED AVERAGE OF THE MARKS OBTAINED IN EACH TESTS.
