Training objectives
- GENERAL SURGERY
To provide the necessary elements to understand the various aspects of general surgery. To underline the importance of the clinical history and the examination of the patients, of surgical physiopathology in order to formulate a differential diagnosis of the clinical conditions
ANAESTHESIA
Provide the knowledge base for the management of the patient in the perioperative period relatively to:
-anaesthesia in elective and emergency
- management of adverse events in anaesthesia
- monitoring systems and devices in anaesthesia
- basics in postoperative analgesia and devices for postoperative analgesia
CLINICAL NURSING IN SURGERY and SEMINAR
On completion of the course the student is expected to be able to put into effect the nursing care process in dealing with health problems requiring surgical treatment. Prerequisites
- Good knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and general pathology
For CLINICAL NURSING IN SURGERY: knowledge of the caring process involved in the bifocal L.J. Carpentino model of clinical practice to identify and treat human response to actual and potential health problems in patients requiring surgical treatment. Course programme
- GENERAL SURGERY
Benign and functional pathology of the esophagus. Malignant pathology of the esophagus. Benign and malignant pathology of stomac, liver, biliary tract, pancreas. Colecistis. Small intestine pathology. IBD.
Benign and malignant pathology of colon and rectum.
Digestive Hemorrhage and shock. Hernias, ventral and incisional hernias. Portal hypertension. Peritoneal diseases. Benign and malignant pathology of lung, mediastinum and pleuras. Venous pathology.
ANAESTHESIA
Nursing care in operatory room:
Structural organization and technology in surgical wards
Staff organization in operating rooms
Specific skills of nurses and anesthesia nurse in pre-, intra e postoperatory period
Preoperatory period: operations and checks on the patient
Nurse care in general anaesthesia
Nurse care in locoregional anaesthesia
Management positions of the patient on the operating table
Accidental hypothermia
Complication in immediate postoperative period
Recovery room
Management of pain
CLINICAL NURSING IN SURGERY
Main nursing diagnoses and potential communication problems between health professionals
Clinical nursing in pre-intra-post operative treatment.
Nursing care in the pre-and post-operative to the person undergoing arterial vascular surgery, thoracic, abdominal, urological and laryngeal.
Nursing management of the main surgical procedures (CVC, SNG, collection of drainage fluid from thoracic and abdominal cavities, FC medication) Management of stoma
Therapeutic Education.
Information regarding the services involved in taking charge of patient management from diagnosis to rehabilitation.
