To give basic knowledge on the immune system and the defense against pathogens; deepening: phagocytosis, antibody response, the complement, self-non self recognition, transplant rejection, pathologies due to malfunctional immune system.
GENERAL PHARMACOLOGY
To know the principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics which characterize the pharmacological profile of drugs necessary for understanding the rationale behind the therapy, to ensure accurate information and a professional dispensing of medicines.
METHODOLOGY CLINICAL NURSING/SEMINAR
To apply the bifocal clinical practice of L. Carpenito-Moyet to identify and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems.
To identify nursing responsibilities in drug administration.

The fundamental principles of pharmacokinetics will be analyzed through the study of absorption and routes of administration, distribution, metabolism and elimination of drugs. Furthermore, the pharmacodynamics will be investigated with particular attention to the safety and toxicity of drugs, to the mechanisms of action and to the interaction with receptors. Finally, the main gender differences in pharmacology will be presented both in the context of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
