GENERAL SURGERY
The aim of the course is to provide the knowledge and skills needed to understand the clinical aspects of general surgery, the importance of the medical history and physical examination as well as surgical pathophysiology for the care management of patients requiring surgical treatment.
LOCOMOTOR DISEASES
The course aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge relating to the main Orthopedic (with particular reference to joint degenerative diseases) and Traumatological pathologies.
At the end of the course the student will have to be able to indicate the clinical and instrumental priorities for the purpose of a correct diagnosis through anamnesis, semeiology and instrumental diagnostics.
The student must also know the main types of treatment of these pathologies.
ANAESTHESIA
Provide the knowledge base for the management of the patient in the perioperative period relatively to:
anaesthesia in elective and emergency
management of adverse events in anaesthesia
monitoring systems and devices in anaesthesia
basics in postoperative analgesia and devices for postoperative analgesia

Use the nursing care process in solving priority health problems, which involve a therapeutic-surgical approach.

The knowledge acquired in the areas covered by the previous exams are fundamental, in particular: Morphological bases of life, Functional bases of life and General clinical nursing and clinical nursing in the surgical area.

1. Introduction to the Course
2. History of surgery and surgical nursing
3. Surgical incisions
4. Functional, benign, and malignant diseases of the esophagus: GERD, hiatal hernias, achalasia (including pseudoachalasia), and esophageal cancer
5. Benign and malignant stomach diseases: Peptic ulcer (including complications) and stomach tumors
6. Diseases of the liver, gallbladder, biliary tract and pancreas: Cysts and tumors of the liver, colelithiasis and choledocholithiasis (including complications), acute and chronic pancreatitis, and malignant tumors of the pancreas
7. Diseases of the small intestine: Chronic inflammatory diseases, tumors and ileostomies
8. Benign and malignant diseases of the colon and rectum: Diverticular disease and diverticulitis, colon and rectal cancers and colostomies
9. Thoracic trauma
10. Abdominal trauma (including fractures of the pelvis)

Fractures of the femoral and vertebral neck: epidemiology, classifications, principles of diagnosis and treatment.
Arthritic degenerative pathology of the hip, knee, spine, shoulder: etiology, clinical and diagnostic aspects, imaging diagnostics, treatment principles.

Learning assessment procedures

GENERAL SURGERY
- Single test of 31 multiple choice questions (5 choices, one exact), on the topics included in the "Course content"
- 1 point for each correct answer (+1) and 0 points for each answer NOT given, while 0.25 points will be subtracted for each incorrect answer (-0.25)
- The time available to complete the test will be 35 minutes
- The exam will take place in a computer room, on the computer, the order of the questions and the related answer options is random and varies for each candidate
- The mark of the written test will be out of thirty
- The passing score is 18/30 (with laud for all correct answers, 31/31)
LOCOMOTOR DISEASES
Multiple-choice test (one correct answer out of four options). There will be 15-20 test items. Only the correct answers count.
ANAESTHESIA
Multiple choice quizzes (4 replies); 30 quiz. Evaluation: 0 points for no date answer, -1 Tip for the wrong answer. Test duration 1 hour
