Training objectives

PREVENTION OF INFECTION
Achievement of the basis for the knowledge of the main risks for health. To develop prevention activity for maintenance public health. Risk of infection and transmission of infection. Vaccine, adverse reactions and controindications.
The prevention of chronic illness and association with the life style. To do planning about health education. Prevention and control of occupational and environmental risk for health.
ERGONOMICS AND HANDLING LOADS
Knowledge: The course aims to provide the student with knowledge on basic principles of biomechanics underlying handling loads and principles of physics underlying the correct use of aids SKILL: application of the principles of ergonomics in rehabilitation in order to prevent risk of musculoskeletal disorders, risk factors of handling loads
BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)
Recognize and manage the major traumatic (cranial, spinal, thoracic, abdominal and limb) and medical (neurological, respiratory and cardiological) emergencies. Relief and evaluation of key vital parameters. Theoretical rational knowledge for cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques and the use of the defibrillator.
Skills: Acquire manual skills and techniques for first aid and basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and early defibrillation in the adult subject.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in chemistry and biochemistry, physics, microbiology, immunology. Basic knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology of cardiac and respiratory function and applied pharmacology.

Course programme

PREVENTION OF INFECTION
Scope and methods of prevention. Epidemiology and health information. Population and public health. Epidemiology and prevention of viral, bacterial and parasitic infections. Risk of infection and transmission of infection. Vaccine, adverse reactions and controindications.
Hospital-acquired infection, principles and prevention. Disinfection and sterilization.
Occupational and environmental health control. The prevention of chronic illness.
Assistance-related infections. Work hygiene and of confined environments. Risk factors of major chronic-degenerative pathologies.
ERGONOMICS AND HANDLING LOADS
Elements of epidemiology of low back pain, anatomy and biomechanics of the spine, Reference Standards (DL 108/2008), ergonomics, performing correct maneuvers for moving patients in the bed, and transfers, even with use of aids.
INTERNAL MEDICINE (BLS)
Basic physiopathology of cardio-respiration and applied pharmacology. Technique and rationale of Basic life support. Standard procedure for identification of vital signs in emergency situations

Didactic methods

Frontal and interactive lessons. Training –simulation.

Learning assessment procedures

PREVENTION OF INFECTION
Written examination: multiple choice quiz with 16 questions. Correct answer: 2 points, wrong answer -1 point, no answer: 0 points. If all correct answers = 30 and praise. Duration 30 minutes.
ERGONOMICS AND HANDLING OF LOADS
Written test: multiple choice tests with 14 questions (4 answers, 1 correct) + 1 open question.
Criteria: 1 point right answer, absent or wrong answer 0 points. Time: 45 minutes.
BASIC LIFE SUPORT: evaluation using synoptic table of performance linked to cardiopulmonary intensive care and defibrillation of the adult.
THOSE ASSESSMENTS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO FORMULATION OF THE FINAL VOTE, AT THE SECOND HALF
