Training objectives

SEMINAR: HEMODYNAMICS APPLIED TO THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM
Knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology applied to venous vascular musculoskeletal interaction.
Knowledge of the indications, contraindications and appropriate use of elastic and non-elastic graduated compression braces of the lower limb, particularly with the aim of correctly managing peripheral edema and post-traumatic rehabilitation.
Knowledge of correct management and possible diagnostic-therapeutic synergies in the patient suffering from venous and / or lymphatic pathology in the course of physiotherapy management.
SEMINAR: SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE AND ONLINE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL RESEARCH PREPARED FOR THE EBP
At the end of the seminar the student will be able to:
Describe and understand the principles of Evidence Based Practice (EBP). Recognize the structure of a scientific article and the various types of articles (research report, systematic review, case report, etc.). Distinguish the different possible sources of evidence, their advantages and disadvantages. Distinguish peer-reviewed scientific journals from other sources. Recognize the main databases of scientific literature useful in physiotherapy and the main resources for identifying pre-appraised jobs. Recognize resources according to the 5s model (evidence pyramid 5.0) of pre-appraised resources
Skills: Formulate a PICO. Consult general and specialist online databases (useful in physiotherapy) to find relevant literature. Find full-text articles.
INTERNSHIP FOR FIRST YEAR CORE SKILLS
Knowing the educational objectives of the 1st year of the course, the learning tools.
Competence Skills:
- CARE AND REHABILITATION, identify through observation the significant elements of the child's development from 0 to 3 years and the functional gesture. Skills: identify landmarks by palpation. Detect the presence of signs of inflammation, apply the basic techniques of therapeutic exercise.
- PREVENTION, assume during the practice of training postures and movements suitable to prevent musculoskeletal damage (ergonomics of one's actions). Respect the principles of hygiene and safety to prevent the onset of infections.
-COMMUNICATION/RELATIONSHIP, in all contexts (internships and training center) place yourself in a situation of active listening, leaving others the opportunity to express themselves. Respect the sensitivity of the patient when making placements, transfers and interventions.
- PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY, adhere to the principles of ethics and correctness (code of ethics and protection of confidentiality). Treat with care all the documentation you use, relating to the patient and their training path. Respect different cultures.
- MANAGEMENT, to identify with the guidance of the tutor and the didactic coordinator, the elements of the organization in which one operates and formulate hypotheses of organization of one's day in the internship.
- TRAINING/SELF-TRAINING, to contribute in a guided way by the tutor and didactic coordinator to the definition of their training objectives.
- PRACTICE BASED ON THE TESTS OF EFFECTIVENESS (EBP), to be able to formulate, starting from a problem, an answerable question: consult the main databases to find the evidence of the literature.

Prerequisites

INTERNSHIP FOR FIRST YEAR CORE SKILLS
Basic knowledge of computer science and statistics, Risks from infections and handling of loads, the core competence of the internship, professional profiles and training courses of professional figures, communication and relationship teaching, in particular relationship psychology in the clinic, Teaching of kinesiology.
SEMINAR: HEMODYNAMICS APPLIED TO THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM
Good knowledge of human anatomy
SEMINAR: SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE AND ONLINE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL RESEARCH PREPARED FOR THE EBP
Basic knowledge of computer science and scientific English

Course programme

SEMINAR: HEMODYNAMICS APPLIED TO THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM
Anatomy and physio-pathology of venous muscle-vascular interaction. Principles of diagnostic-therapeutic management of the patient with lymphatic and / or venous pathology. Diagnostics and complementary therapy to vascular management for drip-lymphatic patients (posturology, plantar insoles, bandages, graduated stockings, intermittent pneumatic compression). Hydrokinesitherapy adapted to the venous system. Sports muscoal activity aimed at improving veno-lymphatic drainage. Topic of research for thesis development and scientific publications.
SEMINAR: SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE AND ONLINE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL RESEARCH PREPARED FOR THE EBP
Definition and usefulness of EBP. Structure (and information contained in the different sections) of a scientific article: title, introduction, methods, results, discussion and conclusions, bibliography, attachments. Different types and characteristics of scientific articles: research reports (various types), systematic and narrative reviews, technical notes, editorials, letters. Peer-reviewed journals: definition, characteristics, Impact Factor. Sources of information: primary, secondary or integrative, tertiary or opinion based: their advantages and disadvantages. The 5.0 model of pre-appraised resources
Methods for formulating an answerable clinical question, a PICO, and identifying the keywords useful for searching the databases of scientific literature. Structure of literature databases and indexing process of works. Several databases potentially useful in physiotherapy (Pubmed, PEDro, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, CINAHL, TRIP-DATABASE…).
Pubmed (Medline) and PEDro: specific characteristics and consultation methods (simple and advanced search, use of MESHs, filters and clinical queries). Main useful tools for identifying pre-appraised resources

INTERNSHIP FOR FIRST YEAR CORE SKILLS
Setting, duration and areas of competence: guided internship, an experience at the municipal nursery schools and clinical internship at the extensive rehabilitation services.
Type of users: children from 0 to three years users of municipal nurseries; adult or elderly patients with musculoskeletal (and sometimes neurological) problems both in hospital and outpatient.
Through tutoring activities, the student is stimulated to rework the internship experiences, is stimulated to reflection, self-assessment, critical thinking and clinical reasoning. Professionalising Training Activities: introduction to the internship, workshops, team work and tutorials in the areas of Core Competence. Reflection activities and development of clinical reasoning. Preparation for the final exam

Didactic methods

SEMINAR: HEMODYNAMICS APPLIED TO THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM
Lectures, Multimedia material in the form of online questionnaires with automatic reply based on scientific evidence. Open access educational videos.

SEMINAR: SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE AND ONLINE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL RESEARCH PREPARED FOR THE EBP
Interactive theoretical lessons, practical exercises in the analysis of an article, a journal and online research in Pubmed and PEDro (TRIP)

INTERNSHIP FOR FIRST YEAR CORE SKILLS
Briefing/debriefing, learning contract, training feedback.
Tutorial activities led by the didactic coordinator, in groups and with individual students, for the definition of training objectives, re-elaboration of internship experiences. Supporting the physiotherapist clinical tutor at the various internship locations. Compilation of specific forms relating to the objectives of the 2nd semester. Intermediate internship interviews between student, clinical tutor and year coordinator.

Learning assessment procedures

INTERNSHIP FOR FIRST YEAR CORE SKILLS
Formative evaluation of the learning contract by the internship tutor / guide and certification exam of applied theory.
The Seminars of Applied Hemodynamics and EBP will compete within the examination of applied theory.
The applied theory exam consisting of 32 multiple choice quiz questions, 4 answers, one of which is correct,
Time 60 minutes. Minimum score 18/30. Maximum 31 (lode).
The final mark of the internship exam is the average between the evaluation of the internship tutor/guide, expressed out of thirty, and the overall result of the applied theory test.
