- Advanced ability to a textual analysis of films, using structuralist methodologies, textual criticism and with the instruments of cultural studies. Knowing the history of German Cinema

- Representation of Berlin in the German and in the World Cinema The students have to collocate Berlin-Films in the context of some important discourses for the German Culture in the Twentieth Century, among others: gender, history, nation, politics, 
 7 films on Berlin in German and in International Cinema

- Seminar paper (10-15 pages) on a Berlin-Film, on a discourse activated by the history of german film with a special attention to intertextual relations and models
