Course programme

The lessons will focus on the description and the application of different methodologies and approaches to literature didactics. They will promote the importance of reading literature as required in the current legislation on teaching foreign languages in Italian high schools. Particular attention will be devoted to didactic tools, evaluation and new technologies. The analysis of texts belonging to the 20th and 21st centuries is aimed at reconsidering the contemporary literature of German-speaking countries in an intercultural and multidisciplinary perspective.
Prof. Ingrid Ickler, who holds training courses in Germany in Wiesbaden, will discuss the following topics during the month of March:
- teaching literature at school to young beginners
- creative tools for an alternative approach to literary texts ("Lesetagebuch")
- creative methods for an intuitive understanding of literary complexity

Didactic methods

Lectures and workshops aime to develop didactic skills and good practices. Students will be invited to plan, simulate, share teaching practices end evaluate them in a dialogical interaction.

Learning assessment procedures

The exam will consist in a written educational project on a topic agreed upon with the professor. The whole educational project (the creation of a "module" or a learning unit), must be sent at least one week before the date set for the oral examination. The oral exam will focus on the description of different didactic approaches and discussion on the project sent. Non-attending students will do the same exam and they will give in addition a demonstration lesson. The lesson’s topic and outline should be discussed with the professor in advance.
