Training objectives

Covering the four skills: reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocab development and translation .Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) - Intermediate level B1.

Course programme

Grammar
Word order in questions, present simple, present continuous, past simple, regular and irregular (strong) verbs, past continuous, time sequences and connectors, be going to (to plan and predict) present continuous (future arrangements) relative clauses (defining); present perfect (+ yet, just, already); present perfect (in opposition to past simple); indefinite pronouns (anything, something, nothing…); comparative adjectives and adverbs, as…as, superlatives (+ever + present perfect); quantifiers (too, not enough); will, won’t (predictions; decisions; offers, promises); infinitive + to and + ing; have to, don’t have to;, must, mustn’t (obligation, prohibition, lack of obligation); should (advice); if+ present, will + infinitive (first conditional); possessive pronouns; if+ past, would + infinitive (second conditional); present perfect + for and since; passives, used to, might (speculation, possibility); phrasal verb word order; so, neither + auxiliaries; past perfect; reported speech; questions with and without auxiliaries.
Vocabulary
Common verb phrases, spelling and numbers, describing people: appearance and personality, clothes and prepositions of place, holidays, prepositions of time and place: at, in, on; verb phrases, airports, verbs and prepositions, expressions for paraphrasing, uses of make and do; shopping, adjectives ending in –ing or –ed; time expressions, describing a town or a city, health and the body, opposite verbs (buy/sell, win/lose…); verb + back; adjectives and prepositions; a bit, really (modifiers); uses of get; look/look like, miss/lose, bring/take, win/earn, meet/know, say/tell; adverbs of manner; Animals, word building: noun formation; phrasal vebs, similarities, verb phrases.

Learning assessment procedures

Exam periods: June, July, September 2017, January 2018.
Written exam without the use of a dictionary. A mock exam will be available one month before the final exam. booking a place up for an exam: enroll via studiare.unife.it using your given password.
Exam Structure (1 hour 30minutes):
Reading comprehension with 10 true/false statements - Cloze test with ten spaces and four multiple-choice options for each space - Guided writing task (90 words) -
Listening (40 minutes)
