Training objectives

Aim of the course is to provide the tools to:
- Modeling by means of the theory of probability and random variables;
- Data analysis by means of descriptive and inferential statistics.

Prerequisites

It is required knowledge of tools of differential and integral calculus of functions of several variables.

Course programme

Probability and its applications in science and technology. Theory of random variables. Models of random variables. Convergence of random variables. Theory of the samples. Theory of parametric estimation. Non-parametric estimation theory. Parametric and non-parametric hypothesis testing,

Didactic methods

Directly imparted lectures and exercises. After-lecture exercises and their tutored resolution in class.

Learning assessment procedures

Written and oral tests at the end of the course. Partial tests during the course.
