- Two-dimensions digital representation of architecture (vector-graphics drawing, raster graphics)
- Three-dimensions digital representation of architecture (BIM)
- Basic aspects of rendering
- Printing
- Exchange formats

Skills:
- Ability to apply theoretical concepts to a case study
- Ability to represent through digital tools a design project, according to coded representation criteria and procedures and to the software presented
- Ability to manage integrated input and output data between the various softwares
- Ability to manage a group work

Course programme

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 50091 - DISEGNO AUTOMATICO
------------------------------------------------------------
Module of Digital Drawing (CFU 6)
The module has the aim of maturing the student’s theorical and practical knowledge of digital representation, finalised to the communication of a design. This module adds the knowledge of digital cad (bi-dimensional) and raster drawing and their interaction to the learning of the principals of drawing already employed in manual representation.
Module of Fundamentals of BIM (CFU 3)
The module has the aim of maturing the student’s theorical and practical knowledge of three-dimensional BIM digital representation. This module, besides giving a modeling method connected to a specific software, aims to give useful basic notions to linking to different outputs the best working processes (of three-dimensional modeling) and instruments.

Digital Drawing (60 hours)
Data management and filing.
Raster e vector software.
Vector-graphics: interface, views, scale and unity concepts, main tools for drawing, selection, dimension and colours of pens, linear transformations, groups, levels, dimensions, ucs, printing from model and from layout, exchange files.
Raster graphics: theory of colour, use of raster files, scanning, photography, interface, resolution and dimension of an image, levels, selection, colour calibration.
Basics for presentations.

Fundamentals of BIM (30 hours)
Introduction to Computer Graphics (CG) and to 3D modeling, Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Software Autodesk Revit 2019: interface and main tools, working area setting, levels and grids, external references, projects views: plans, facades and sections.
Modeling: mass and surfaces, walls and pillars, doors and windows, slabs, roofs and false ceilings, levels and grids, personalized architectural objects, ground, division of surfaces and regions, platforms and components of planimetry, level curves.
Management of the model: data management (abacus, accounts and colour tables), information management.
Plates: layout of the project views, detail views and drawing views, properties and types of views, basics of rendering.

Learning assessment procedures

The exam (9 CFU) has a single mark. In the final interview the student has to demonstrate a sufficient knowledge of the theorical notions concerning both the modules and show all the documents edited during the semester, synthesis of the assimilation of the training objectives of the course.

The student presents himself at the exam with a general mark, average of those of the intermediate short weekly assignments.
The day of the exam:
• oral presentation in groups on the methods and uses of the software
• practical test on the software
• interview on the final drawings
• regularity in dedication and growing improvement
with evaluation for passing between 18 and 30L

The final mark is the average between the presentation mark and those of the day of the exam.
An unsatisfactory evaluation the day of the exam entails the necessity of repeating the exam.
