Training objectives

The main objective of this integrated course is to provide students with the basics to face the study and understanding of the chemical nature and structure of the constituents of living matter, of biomolecule transformations, of energy changes associated with them and of metabolism of nucleic acids, and to apply this knowledge for the evaluation of the impact of structural variations of biomolecules on their function, of the effect of modulators of biomolecules in the pharmaceutical / therapeutic field and to understand how physiological changes impact on the metabolism and on the life of cells.

Didactic methods

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 002617/1 - BIOLOGIA MOLECOLARE
------------------------------------------------------------

Theoretical lessons. The student is guided along the path, to arrive at an understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of macromolecules, and the strategies for regulating their functions in the context of metabolic reactions. The students will be actively involved in the discussion of the themes of the course.

Learning assessment procedures

The aim of the evaluation is to test the level of knowledge and deepening of the topics of the course program and the reasoning skills developed by the student on issues related to biochemistry and molecular biology by two written tests constituted by multiple choice questions and open questions.
