Training objectives

The student will learn the strategic roles of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in companies/enterprises at different levels (support, development, generation of business/markets).
The student will understand that any component of ICT is heavily coupled with theory and practice in Computer Science, and he will be able to identify what kind of technology is involved in a particular application of ICT in business contexts.
The student will gain a comprehensive and more adequate technical dictionary.
The student will understand the basics of the innovation trends in ICT and the impact on the society and the global markets.
The student will be able to manipulate, elaborate, and visualize data through the software R, as a basic example of business analytics.

Prerequisites

Basic skills on computers and Windows, Internet browsing, search engines, MS/Libre/Open Office (Excel and Word mostly). Basics of mathematics.

Didactic methods

Every component and technology in Computer Science will be linked to business contexts/cases, so the student can appreciate how important ICT and informatics are in businesses.
Slides and presentation will be used.
