The Corrosion Study Centre is located in the new building of University of Ferrara and has a total of approximately 400 square metres of laboratory and office space. The Centre is well equipped for research with a variety of modern electrochemical and various other techniques and facilities including:

  • Scanning electron microscopy
  • Atomic force microscopy
  • Optical microscopy and metallography
  • UV-Visible Spectrophotometer
  • FT IR spectrometry
  • Quartz crystal microbalance
  • Potentiostatic and potentiodinamyc instrumentation
  • Frequency response analyzer
  • Electrochemical noise analysis
  • Rotating cylinder assemblies
  • Corrosion monitoring equipment
  • Stress corrosion test rigs
  • Tribo-corrosion Equipment
  • Hydrogen induced cracking test facilities
  • Controlled atmosphere test facilities
  • Salt spray and other routine corrosion test cabinet
  • Electro- and mechanical polishing

Other facilities are available, including MAS-NMR. Through the Centre's collaborative research programmes, there is access to facilities elsewhere, e.g. RBS, XAS.
