Training objectives

The Subject offers knowledge about the process of strategic management (i.e. strategic
planning, strategy implementation and strategic control) and performance measurement. Furthermore, it teaches students how to link the knowledge acquired from different functional courses, enabling them to better understand the linkages among different organizational levels and functional fields in the organization. Furthermore, the Subject aims at developing students' capacity to design strategic control systems and apply performance measurement framework in firms' real life, no matter what the business model is.

Prerequisites

Basics of business administration, financial accounting and organization studies are required. Furthermore, a fluent English language ability (understanding, writing, speaking) is recommended.

Didactic methods

Teaching methods include:
- lectures,
- case studies (at list with regard to detecting key successful factors, strategy deployment, some strategic control model, managerial performance measurement systems),
- site visits/seminar in class by Zhermack top managers.

Learning assessment procedures

Written exam, compulsory for student assessment, organized on average on 18-20 close tests and at list 2 open questions/exercises. Points will be deducted from the maximum mark, based on wrong answers. Not replied questions will be considered as wrong ones.
Colloquium (oral exam), related to all the contents of the subject, will last on average 10 minutes and it counts about thee different main questions.
Both written exam and colloquium will be done based on the formal exams' calendar approved by the Department.

Mark related to the written exam will last until the end of the exams' session. After that, the student who have not successfully passed the colloquium yet, will have to do the written exam again.

Reference texts

Course reading package will be available to the students at the copy shop Papermoon, via Voltapaletto, 18A.
Further readings could eventually be made available to deepen some contents. These materials would be available in the folder related to the course web page. Students are required to log in.
