Training objectives
- The objectives of the course are as follows: i) to provide students tools to understand Sustainable Local Policy sectors. The provided tools include organizational and functional structure of local authorities in Italy and in Europe.
The course is split into two main sections: Sustainable Local Policy and Local Public Utility strategies. Prerequisites
- The course requires knowledge of Microeconomics and Public Economics.
Course programme
- The course includes an introductory part that explains the peculiarities of local authorities' budgetary policies, historical background, and organizational structures.
The main part of the course analyses the public offering and the regulation of private acitvities.
The two sections will be structured as follows:
1) Local Public Utilities:
- public utilities introduction
- privatization, public asset evaluation and initial public offering
- local utilities liberalization
- price regulation of local utilities
2) Local Sustainable Strategies:
- environmental and social sustainability local strategies
- local green economy strategies
- smart city strategies
- local sustainability
- PNRR implementation
- DNHS (Do Not Significant Harm) principle applies to PNRR Didactic methods
- Lectures
Learning assessment procedures
- The evaluation is based on a final written exam and an optional oral exam.
