About research in Unife
A range of organisations, from public and not-for-profit sector bodies to private companies, fund research at Unife every year. A total of 9 million euro was allocated for research activities in 2007 (44% more than the year before). The University campus hosts several research spin-offs.
Committee of Supporters
This was established on 22 December 2004 between the City Council, the Provincial Authority, the Chamber of Commerce, local banks and banking foundations. Its aim is to promote efficient links with the cultural, social and productive situations in the area. It has provided a Research Fund for the University.
The Scientific and Technological Centre
This centre combines and rationalises the teaching and research in Engineering, Physics, Information Technology and Geology. It is the site of research laboratories dealing with three projects of a regional nature: LARA (a laboratory working on technologies and research activities regarding the precious source of “water”), ER GEN TECH (genetics and biotechnology innovation laboratory) and LAV (acoustics and vibration laboratory) provided under the agreed close collaboration between the authorities of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Ferrara Province, the City of Ferrara and our University. These initiatives are provided under the auspices of PRRIITT (the regional programme for industrial research, innovation and technological exchange) and Objective 2 (in terms of funding over and above that provided by the regional programme). They share the common objectives of technological exchange and the industrial development of research. The complex is also the home of the Centre for innovation and technological exchange which has created fourteen new companies with forty cases of technological exchange and thirty seven patents.
