The University Library System (ULS) was reorganized by a resolution of the Academic Senate on July 13th 2005 and by the Administrative Council of October 5th 2005.
The new organization is the result of the natural evolution undergone by the preceding structure that had developed a number of unresolved flaws and problems.
The governance of the ULS is today presided over by the delegate of the Rector’s Library representative. It is subdivided into three Councils, each responsible for a macro-area, designated by the Faculties and a Managerial Counsel composed of the President of Councils of the macro-area and a student representative.
The organizational plan of the ULS is however, organized by a general managerial structure and a library organizational structure, or service points, of macro-areas that compose the Departments of Libraries and Museums. Since January 1st 2009, the Departments are part of the Administrative Area. A greater attention to users, in particular students, the “clients” of the university system, and a rationalization of the resources and processes distinguish the new ULS of the University of Ferrara.
