After you arrive

Welcome Day

You must arrive in Ferrara in time to attend the welcome day, which will be held during the third week of September (for the 1° semester) and the third week of February (for the 2° semester). Please consult the academic agenda to have information about the exact date.

During the welcome day important information will be given on:

  • procedures planned during your stay
  • teaching activity
  • services offered by Unife and the city
  • extra-curricular activity and the life in Ferrara.

Certificate of arrival

Students arriving to Ferrara after the orientation week must urgently go to the International mobility and Educational Office to finalize the registration.

All the incoming students will receive a Certificate of Arrival stating clearly the date of the beginning of their stay. This document will be essential to enroll. At the end of the stay, students are povided with a Certificate of Attendance.


The enrolment is formalized at the Student registrar’s office. Incoming student must hand in the following documents:

  • Copy of the ID/Passport (it is possible to attach a PDF copy of the document during the online application procedure)
  • Enrolment form (it is possible to print this document at the end of the online application procedure)
  • Payment receipt (only in case the student paid at the Bank)
  • Study plan duly filled out and signed, including all the subjects the student would like to attend during his/her stay.

Learning Agreement

You must have the Learning Agreement already signed by the Coordinator of your University. In order to obtain the italian approval on the Learning Agreement, you need to take an appointment with your departmental coordinator for international mobility to have it signed.

Study plan

Within two weeks after your arrival in Ferrara you will have to fill in the study planwith the list of all the courses you wish to attend during your stay. The form must be filled in, signed and sent back through the SOS platform.

If you're an non-EU student, you will need to make a request for the Residence permit, within 8 days from your arrival in Italy. The documentation is to be asked in a post-office, it is possible to turn to a patronage or to International infodesk of Ferrara for help in the procedure of filling the document.
