Networking University Cities

Unitown brings together municipalities characterized by the presence of a prestigious academic community as well as universities which significantly shape the overall structure and daily life of the urban space in which they are located.

University cities must face common problems related to the complexity of the interaction between educational institutions, municipalities and their cultural, social and economic actors. Even though solutions have to be context-related, they can benefit from the predisposition towards universality which is typical of academic communities. The sharing and developing of these solutions is the core mission of Unitown, whose partners are committed to devising and testing good practices that can shape the identity of the university city as a whole.

Unitown activities include the mapping and sharing of existing good practices in town-gown relations, the development of innovative good practices in tune with changing cultural, social and economic contexts, and the pursuit of fundraising strategies.
