The Humanities and Social Studies for a global society

Internationalization is one of the most important goals of the Department of Humanistic Studies, which gathers researchers from a wide range of fields in the human sciences: classical and modern Literatures and Languages, Linguistics, Philology, Philosophy, History, Pedagogy and Sociology, History and Communication of Science, Quaternary, Prehistory and Paleoanthropology.

Thanks to the variety of humanistic disciplines, the Department offers a large number of degrees: four Bachelors and four Masters.

Six of them lead to double degrees. Five are taught in collaboration with European partner universities – Regensburg in Germany, Tomar in Portugal, Cordoba and Valladolid in Spain, Budapest in Hungary. One is taught in collaboration with the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná, Brazil.

The Department is the coordinator of an Erasmus Mundus Master Programme in Quaternary and Prehistory.

All the courses present a low student-teacher ratio which allows for intensive supervision of each student. Graduates from our courses are characterized by a high level of employability, also owing to the strong synergies that link our University and its partners in the local area and the Region.
