Department and Enterprises

The research activities are developed both with public financing and in cooperation with private enterprises.

As regards public financing, in the last three years the Department has participated to sixteen MIUR PRIN projects, to two projects funded by the Italian Space Agency for the development of new generation satellite systems, to four European projects in the scope of FP6 (including a Network of Excellence and an European PhD program), to two European projects in the scope of FP7 and to two Interlink projects. The total public funding of the Department for 2007 was about 1M€.

The Department has many collaborations and research contracts with private enterprises and they represent one of main activity of the Department for a total funding of about 600k€/year in the last two years, This activity has often a high scientific relevance or regards situations in which the usual design rules do not provide adequate results. The tests that use the Department equipment fall in this scope.

The Department is also deeply involved in the new laboratories of the High Technology Network of Emilia Romagna, born from the fusion of the Network Laboratories funded in the preceding three years. The Department participates to 5 of the 14 Emilia Romagna laboratories and, in particular, to the laboratories on Environment, Automation ,electronics and bioengineering, Industrial innovation and environmental energetic sustainability, Advanced mechanics, Micro and nano technologies. These laboratories have recently been funded for about 750k€.
