-    Born on 15 April 1955 in Trieste (Italy)
-    1983-1987: Research assistant in the University of Pavia
-    1988-1993: Associate Professor of Plant Taxonomy in the University of Padova
-    1994- Full Professor of Plant Ecology in the University of Ferrara
